Once arrows leave the bow and the discussion of control dissipates, official tallying done to determine how many arrows actually hit the target. Gamblers then try to predict the last two digits of this total number. How Did Shillong Teer Got Legal?

Through the official recognition of Teer by statutory authority, the government accomplished both sanctioning and eliciting the distinctive testimony to its cultural connection. The statute provided the game both an umbrella coverage as a game and judicial protection against legality, and at the same time provided it a place in the culture of the Khasi as part of their heritage.
Further strengthened by the Meghalaya Amusement and Betting Tax (Amendment) Act of 1982, the law laid out the framework for overseeing Teer operations, ensuring accountability and fair play.

What was once an informal cultural practice transformed into a formal cultural activity with a defined way of betting—a process of borrowing and bridging the Khasi tradition with colonial regulation and sport.
