How are the Numbers Determined as the Result?

The determination of the result is straightforward. In Shillong Teer, there are two rounds: the first and second rounds. In both rounds, 50 archers with bows and arrows aim at a common target placed at a particular distance. In the first round, each archer carries 30 arrows, while in the second round, each archer carries 20 arrows. The shooting process lasts for two to five minutes, during which the archers must hit the target.

The number of arrows hitting the target determines the outcome for that round. In Shillong Teer, the results are always expressed in two digits, with the last two digits of the target-hitting arrows representing the final result for that round.

Let’s understand with an example: let us assume it’s the first round of the game and all 50 skilled archers are ready with 30 arrows each. The target placed at a distance and now they are ready to shoot. There are 50 archers with 30 arrows each, which means there are a total of 1,500 arrows to shoot. Out of all the arrows, 983 actually hit the target and the rest missed. So, the result of that round will be 83 (as mentioned earlier, the last two digits of the total hits regarded as the final result). This is the actual process of determining the result in Shillong Teer.

How You Earn Money in Teer?

The Teer is a betting game so there is no guarantee that you will succeed every day. As I mentioned earlier there are hundreds of numbers in Shillong Teer starting from 00 to 99. Out of all these numbers, you choose you choose some of the numbers as your target and bet on these numbers. If your prediction is correct, you will receive a return on your investment. In Shillong Teer, if you invest Rs 1 then in return you will receive Rs 80 as your return on your bet.

Better understand with an example: Let’s assume out of one hundred numbers you choose 93, 57, and 31 as your target numbers according to your calculation and prediction. After that, you put Rs 200 on each of the three numbers. In the evening, when the results came out, you found that your prediction was correct and number 57 was successful. As a return on your investment, you will receive Rs 16,000 because you paid Rs 200 for each of the three numbers. The Rising Story of Shillong Teer.

If you ask “When Shillong Teer Started?” There is no exact data on when this game started. But the format of this game is no doubt very old. In the past time, this game used to be a game where archers used to showcase their skills with bows and arrows. The name ‘Teer’ indeed means arrows. In the past times bows and arrows used to be one of the prime weapons Khasi Tribe. It’s connected to their traditions and culture.

As time passed the game also started to evolve, people started to bet their money on the skills of the archers. At that time there were no such rules and regulations everything was very unorganized, and it turned into a game of gambling. Soon the government of Meghalaya understood the threat and in the 1970s state government banned this game in Meghalaya. But the game continued for the next couple of decades.

1982 was the time when the government of Meghalaya took a strong step and decided to unban the teer game. At that time, Captain Williamson A. Sangma was the CM of Meghalaya and held political power in his hands. The government saw that by banning the game, the problem was not solved. The state government decided to organize the game and add some important rules and regulations to prevent disruption. The government passed an act in 1982 named the Meghalaya Amusement and Betting Tax Act of 1982. Under this act, the government concentrated all the power in the hands of the state government, and without permission, no rules and regulations were changeable.

This step helped the govt. solve multiple problems, such as illegal activities surrounding this game and fraud. It also resulted in employment opportunities for many people.

Britishers Theory

With other theories, another very popular theory regarding the starting of tear as a betting game is “The Britishers Theory”. According to this theory during the colonial period, Britishers used to love Meghalaya state because of its pleasant weather, the weather of Shillong as an escape from the heat of the plane lands.

When Britishers were in the hills of Meghalaya, they saw this unique game of archery. The whites loved the game, and many experts say that they first introduced the betting system into Teer. Although there are multiple debates about this theory, nothing has emerged.
